Douglas College First Aid Courses

The Douglas Students’ Union is hosting Red Cross Emergency First Aid courses.  These courses are being held for DSU fee paying members only (paid Student Union Fees) and a portion of the fee will be subsidized by the DSU.

There are 3 courses available:

  • Emergency First Aid is a one day basic course and your fee is $50.00 (tax included)
  • If you need to upgrade to Standard First Aid/CPR C your fee will be $50.00 for the 1st day and $55.00 for the 2nd day for a total of $105.00 (tax included)
  • If you need to upgrade to Standard First Aid/CPR level HCP for nursing your fee will be $50.00 for the 1st day and $65.00 for the 2nd day for a total of $115.00 (tax included)

Please read the course descriptions below to determine the best course for you:

EMERGENCY FIRST AID / CPR LEVEL C

SFA 027This 8.5 hour course includes obstructed airway procedures, breathing emergencies and CPR for all ages. The course also includes basic first aid for minor and major bleeding, some medical conditions and continuing care. The Emergency First Aid course is recommended for the general public, care givers and medical professionals. This course also includes certification in Automated External Defibrillation (AED).

STANDARD FIRST AID / CPR LEVEL C

SFA 010This 16 hour course is usually taught over 2 days. It includes everything in the EFA course and is designed to teach you the skills required to handle life threatening emergencies. It also includes care for traumatic emergencies, some medical conditions, head and spine injuries, fractures, burns etc. The Standard First Aid course is recommended for anyone interested in a more comprehensive level of First Aid/CPR training. This course also includes certification in Automated External Defibrillation (AED).

STANDARD FIRST AID / CPR LEVEL HCP

SFA 079This 17 hour course is usually taught over 2 days. It includes everything in the SFA/CPR C course and is designed to teach the CPR at the Health Care Provider level. You will also learn pulse checks, rescue breathing, two rescuer CPR and bag-valve-mask. This course is recommended for health care professionals, and anyone requiring the highest level of First Aid/CPR training. This course also includes certification in Automated External Defibrillation (AED).

To register in to one of these courses:

  1. Fill out the registration form below and select the course you are interested in.  Remember to do the verification and submit the form.
  2. We will confirm that you have paid your Student Union fees.
  3. Once confirmed, a link will be sent back to you to process your credit card payment on Pay Pal.
  4. Once your payment has been received your registration has been finalized, and  you will receive an email confirmation.
