Douglas College First Aid Courses

 

The Douglas Students’ Union is hosting Red Cross Emergency First Aid courses.  These courses are being held for DSU fee paying members only (paid Student Union Fees) and a portion of the fee will be subsidized by the DSU.

There are 2 courses available:

  • Emergency First Aid/CPR C is a one day basic course and your fee is $50.00 (tax included)
  • Standard First Aid/CPR C your fee will be $50.00 for the 1st day and $65.00 for the 2nd day for a total of $115.00 (tax included)

Please read the course descriptions below to determine the best course for you:

EMERGENCY FIRST AID / CPR LEVEL C

SFA 027This 8 hour course includes choking skills, breathing emergencies and CPR for all ages. The course also covers heart attack, stroke and bleeding skills.  Certification in AED is included.  It is recommended for the general public, medical professionals, teachers, fitness instructors and personal trainers.  The course meets legislation requirements for provincial/territorial worker safety and insurance boards and includes the latest first aid and CPR guidelines. Red Cross 3 year certification issued upon successful completion.

STANDARD FIRST AID / CPR LEVEL C

This 16 hour course is taught over 2 days. It includes everything in the EFA course and is designed to teach the skills required to handle life threatening emergencies. It also includes care for traumatic emergencies, some medical conditions, head and spine injuries, fractures, burns, poisons and certification in AED. It is recommended for police officers, teachers, caregivers, fitness instructors and massage therapists.  The course meets legislation requirements for provincial/territorial worker safety and insurance boards and includes the latest first aid and CPR guidelines. Red Cross 3 year certification issued upon successful completion.
