Program Curriculum

Step 1 – Skills Evaluation: In this initial step, your First Aid skills will be evaluated to ensure proficiency. Additionally, you must meet certain prerequisites, including being at least 18 years of age and holding a current Basic Life Support certification and Red Cross First Aid Instructor certification.

Step 2 – Fundamentals of Instructions: The Fundamentals of Instructions component is divided into two parts: an online component and a classroom component. The online portion involves approximately 8 hours of self-paced learning, covering the essential principles of effective instruction. The classroom component spans 8 hours, including breaks, and is conducted over one day (9 am to 5 pm), providing in-depth practical training to refine your teaching techniques.

Step 3 – Discipline Specific Classroom Component: Building upon the Fundamentals of Instructions, the Discipline Specific Classroom Component focuses on the specialized aspects of teaching Basic Life Support. This 8-hour classroom session, also conducted over one day (9 am to 5 pm), delves deeper into the BLS curriculum, equipping you with the knowledge and skills necessary to deliver comprehensive instruction.

Upon completion of Step 3, you will have 364 days to progress to Step 4.

Step 4 – Teaching Experience: Step 4 consists of both an online and a classroom component. The online segment provides detailed information on what to expect during your Teaching Experience, while the classroom component offers a valuable hands-on experience of teaching in a real classroom setting under the guidance of a Teaching Experience Supervisor.

The online component typically takes 30 to 45 minutes to complete, and the duration of the classroom component varies based on the candidate, with a maximum of 3 attempts allowed.

Once you have successfully completed Step 4, please submit your paperwork to your Instructor Trainer.

Step 5 – Certification: Congratulations! Step 5 marks the final stage of the certification process. Upon completion of all previous steps and meeting the necessary requirements, you will receive your official certification as a Basic Life Support Instructor. You can take pride in your accomplishment and embark on a fulfilling career as an instructor, imparting life-saving knowledge and skills to others.
